Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.
This is Michael Pollan’s succinct nutritional advice. I’ve never heard such a common-sense diet rule. Pollan is a fascinating and level-headed writer on the topics of food, nutrition, food policy, and cultural food habits. Pollan’s new book, In Defense of Food, hit bookshelves this month. He talks about whether what we eat is really food and how Okinawans manage their diets with the “80 percent rule” on this interview from NPR’s All Things Considered.
I can just hear the Joan Cusack character on Say Anything, telling John, “There’s no food in your food!”
