Contest: Tell Me Who You Are and Win Prizes!

Miami Dish Prize Button

I am thrilled that August marks the one year anniversary of Miami Dish! I’m proud of how much the blog has grown. I am delighted when local businesses tell me that customers heard about them on Miami Dish.

The best part of creating this is feeling like there is a real and growing community of people in South Florida who value the same things that are important at Miami Dish: good food, good stories, and good conversation. I’m so excited for what’s to come! I hope that community continues to thrive.

So now it’s time to thank my readers. This coming week you can find several contests on the blog as part of a Miami Dish anniversary celebration. I thank all of the local businesses, as well as the FoodBuzz folks, for helping me provide you with these prizes.

The winner of this first contest gets:

· A FoodBuzz farmers’ market bag, made of organic cotton and complete with Miami Dish button, which you can remove and place wherever you like.

Miami Dish Prize Bag

· A lovely two ounce tin of hibiscus tea from Theine teahouse in Coral Gables. This is my favorite summer iced tea. You can reuse the tin for other loose teas or spices.

Miami Dish Prize Tea

· A gift certificate from Seeley’s Gourmet Garden for three of their numerous hummus flavors, including kalamata olive, chipotle, red pepper basil, lemon dill, and cilantro jalapeno. These creamy hummuses are made without preservatives and with real ingredients you can recognize. Some of the places where you can find Seeley’s Gourmet Garden are the Upper Eastside Farmers’ Market or By Their Fruit, 40 A West McNab Road, Pompano Beach. You can contact them at 954-786-9695 for more info about their products and where they are sold.

So, like I said, I feel like I have a community of readers. Many of you leave comments, but I’d like to hear from more of you.

For this contest, all you have to do is leave a comment telling me who you are, where you live and why you read Miami Dish . This is your chance to introduce yourself!

All you have to do is give me the info in bold above to be entered in the contest. However, if you wish, I would also love to know your favorite thing about Miami Dish. What do you wish you saw more of here?

The contest will run until 11:00 pm on August 27, 2008. I will announce the winner on Thursday, August 28. The winner will be randomly picked from the comments. Please remember to include your email in the comment field or to check back next week so that you can learn whether you won! Good luck and thank you!

P.S. A full name is not necessary, nor is your street address! I just want a general idea of where you live (like South Miami or Hollywood) and a first name is fine!

Hi Trina! I’m Candace, and live in Hollywood.

I read your blog to keep up with all the food happenings in SoFla. My favorite part would be the food events and local Farmer’s Market. Now I want to check out the one on McNab in Pompano, as it is just a few miles from my office!

Hey Trina, it’s Alex. I live in Hollywood, and I read miamidish so that when I talk to other people I seem cultured and conscientious, with the scoop on all that’s going down…straight down to my belly. It’s alimentary my dear Watson (I hope I didn’t steal that from anywhere).

    Hi Trina,
Its Denise! And I read Miami Dish to get great ideas on locally grown food, new dining destinations, and great recipes for produce thats in season. Otherwise, I’d never know when the Mangoes are ripe!

H Trina, congrats on your first anniversary! I’m Wok Star Eleanor Hoh and live in Bal Harbour. I love Miami Dish because you bring food to life whether it’s a dish you’re preparing or telling us about food. Lovely the way it is and in addition, maybe more audio or video podcasts? Just want to thank you for linking to my blog and your help promoting my classes.

My name is Tami. I live in Westchester (southwest area of Miami) but I work in Brickell. I fancy myself as quite the gourmet cook and love to get people together to break bread, share good wine and indulge in nice conversation. I believe the best memories always involve good food and drink. Unlike other local food blogs, Miami Dish does not concentrate entirely on reviewing restaurants. Miami Dish gives me the scoop about local events that are interesting to me, as a cook, such as farmer’s markets and new products to our area. Keep up the good work. I wish I could see more stories from your readers sharing their memorable food experiences or passions.

I love Miami Dish! Love it!!! I would eat it if I could.

I read Miami Dish at breakfast for its refreshing mix of wit and wisdom. I read it at lunch to escape the doldrums of another day. I read it at dinner to help me plan a scrumptuous meal. And I read it as dessert.

Miami Dish is about the simple pleasures in life. That’s why I would recommend it to anyone!

Good food, great design, the best writing. Congratulations, Trina, on a year of brilliance.

I love the red drink made from Rosa de Jamaica because my grandmother used to make it for me as a child. Brings back memories. Unable to find any here in Edmonton, Alberta though…. I’m 2 yrs too late for the contest! Good blog. Will return.

    Hi Christina,

Thanks for reading. If you can’t find hibiscus tea in your local grocery, try looking on foodzie.com. They have many small producer and small batch items. They have a hibiscus and blood orange tea for sale now–this may evoke the familiar flavor.
