Food & Garden Festival at Fairchild
Cooking demos by local chefs; growers and food vendors from around South Florida; ugliest, largest, and prettiest fruit and vegetable contest; and lectures by local experts on topics like maintaining your garden in summer, growing and eating canistel fruit, composting, and making sauerkraut and other fermented foods. Sunday is “Fresh Kids” days with lots of green activities for kids. Here is the schedule and program.
When: Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables
How much: $20 for adults, $15 for seniors 65+, $10 for children 6-17, free for children 5 or under.
The Deering Seafood Festival
Live music; activities for kids, cooking demos by chefs such as Sean Bernal from Oceanaire Seafood Room, Barb Freda of Les Dames d’Escoffier/Florida Table, and Cindy Hutson of Ortanique; seafood vendors, and pontoon boat rides in the bay. Pontoon rides are not included in ticket price.
When: Sunday, March 29 from 11 am to 6 pm
