Pork out at Pubbelly

The Bavarian Porktoberfest menu at Pubbelly runs through Sunday (10/2).  Dine on spaetzle with pork belly and poached egg, Weisswurst with sauerkraut and pretzel and wiener schnitzel with cabbage and apples.  Wash it down with some bier.

Learn and network at the Earth Learning Community Food Summit/Gathering

This is the second annual series of events designed to bring together farmers, chefs and eaters to talk about how to improve our local food scene. There will be talks, meetings and dinners through Tuesday, October 5.   Among the events: a Slow Money talk with Woody Tasch and a Sunday tour of local farms including the new Verde Gardens in Homestead, Possum Trot and the Little River Market Garden.  Register in advance at the Earth Learning website.

Check out Harry’s Pizzeria

The new pizzeria by Chef Michael Schwartz opened earlier this week.  The menu offers pies, snacks, salads, wine, beer, Panther coffee and dessert (including a biscotti of the day.)  Pizza toppings including oyster mushrooms and taleggio; short rib and gruyere; rock shrimp and manchego or bacon and fingerling potato.  They’re open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar opens Monday (10/3)

The highly anticipated farm-to-table, Southern restaurant from Chef Jeff McInnis and 50 Eggs (the company behind Lime Fresh Mexican) opens Monday.  Reservations are highly recommended.  Keep an eye out for the upcoming Gospel Sunday Brunch. This restaurant has the best website address I’ve seen in a long time: runchickenrun.com
