About Miami Dish

Posted on 23 July, 2007 by trina

Good food.  Good stories. Good conversation.  These simple things bring pleasure to our daily lives.  Miami Dish hopes to offer all of these.

Miami Dish is about food in South Florida.  It’s about all aspects of food  – the delectable, the seasonal, the fashionable, the environmental—but most importantly, the local.  MiamiDish will help you eat locally and seasonally by piquing your tastes with delicious food finds.

I love fine dining, but I’m also curious about what’s happening with local farms, markets, and supper clubs. I’ll forage South Florida for food personalities, traditions, festivals, kitchens, and history.   So, what’s going on in your grandma’s kitchen?  Please join the conversation!

Since this blog is all about Miami food, is there any place in Miami where I can get fresh corn tortillas? I want to make fish tacos @ home and I don’t know or want to invest the time, making fresh corn tortillas. I don’t think we have any Mexican grocery stores in Miami. I know I can get them in Florida City or Homestead but I don’t want to travel that far south? Any suggestions?

I really enjoyed your website!!! In reference to wasting food, my answer to that has been to shop every other day. I purchase milk, cereal and the other essentials early in the week and then make a 2 day menus. It works for us because we like going to restaurants and some weeks go out several times. I never fill my fridge.
Thanks for all the great info. You most definitely have a new reader.

[...] of self-respect and respect for you, my readers, I will tell you straight: there is nothing local about this place except the location and perhaps, the restaurateur.  Ken Lyon, after living in [...]
