Food Musings: Caring for the Animals you Eat and Dinner Parties in the Street

Posted on 4 August, 2008 by trina
I savor lying on the couch and reading the New York Times on the weekend; it’s a rare treat. I came upon two food-related articles that I wanted to share with you. Nicholas D. Kristof grew up on an Oregon farm. In the opinion page, he writes about helping to raise the animals his family ate. [...] » Read more..

Stephanie wins Top Chef!

I whooped like a soccer fan. Top Chef Chicago was riveting all the way through. If you have a question for Stephanie, you can ask here. The Chicago Tribune will have a live video chat with Stephanie on Thursday at 1 pm. The article doesn’t specify which time zone, but I’m assuming [...] » Read more..

I remember the smell and the stirring from [...] » Read more..

I mentioned getting comped (i.e. a free invite) for the Wok Star class in my last post. Oh, but I do love those Thanksgiving classics

We typically eat turkey with golden-crisp skin, raisin-flecked stuffing, Portobello mushrooms sautéed in butter and garlic, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. My aunt adds spinach casserole or arroz con leche. [...] » Read more..
